Koda is a 16 week old Rhodesian Ridegback puppy. His owner contacted me for puppy training in Mahopac NY just prior to his arrival from the breeder in Florida. His family understood the size and strength of this breed, so they made a smart choice in being proactive with Koda’s training. We started training Koda at just 8 weeks old. As with most puppy training, we focused on housebreaking, crate training, teaching household rules and structure.
In conjunction with that, we are taking Koda through complete obedience training. Koda is responding to the obedience training like a star. At just 16 weeks old, Koda is more obedient then many adult dogs. It just goes to show what proper training can achieve. Koda Update: Here is Koda now, with his dog brother and sister (who we also trained). Koda is now 120lbs, so thankfully he is properly trained, happy, and well-behaved…he is a great family dog!
It means a lot to me when owners ask me to help them with their second and third dogs. Koda, Delilah, and Rider have amazing owners who understand the importance of proper training.

Leo is a 12 week old German Shepherd whose family contacted me for puppy training in Mahopac NY. Leo is from a strong lineage of working and police dogs. His owners know he will be a strong minded dog who can potentially be a handful if not properly trained. For that reason, they contacted me for puppy training in Mahopac NY.
Leo is enrolled in my Puppy Training Program, which means we are addressing his housebreaking, proper leash walking (so he does not pull his owner down the road and bark/lunge at a passersby), handle his biting/mouthing, and develop reliable obedience commands from the start. His owners also have two other small dogs in their household, so it is critical that we teach Leo how to properly interact and play with his dog brother and sister.
A key question for all puppy owners to keep in mind is: “Do I want my puppy doing this when they are 2yrs. old and 60lbs?” Many people find it cute and fun when their puppy barks for attention, jumps up to greet people, and acts very hyper/excited. The important thing to keep in mind is that whatever behaviors you accept from your puppy, are the same behaviors you will see in your full-size adult dog. So if you do not what a full size German Shepherd jumping on people, barking for attention, or acting crazy with excitement, then make sure you are not allowing and encouraging it from your puppy. Puppy structure and management lays a foundation that all dogs will benefit from.
Puppy training in Mahopac NY teaches your dog boundaries, structure, and manners at an early age – so it will last a lifetime. Being proactive is essential, as is what separates the happy and stress-free dog owner, from the struggling dog owning family. I encourage you to start properly training your puppy today, so you can enjoy your adult dog tomorrow. You can reach me directly: Steve@srdogtraining.com or 914-774-7654
Mahopac NY Puppy Training
Flint’s owner contact me for Puppy Training in Mahopac NY because of his leash walking issues. Even though Flint is only 6 months old, as a Bernese Mountain dog, he is a very big puppy and will only continue to get larger.
His family was very smart to take the proactive approach in starting training early on. Regardless of your dog’s age or size, it is best to address any unwanted issues now, don’t put it off any longer.
Leash walking is one of the most common struggles for most dog owners. You should not have your dog dragging you down the road, barking or lunging at whatever passes by, and having to avoid taking your dog for a walk. We were able to successfully teach Flint to easily walk on leash in just 1 hour. This now allows flint and his family to comfortably go on daily walks whenever, wherever, and without hesitation.

Bella is an unbelievably cute 9 week old Cocker Spaniel puppy. After working with hundreds of dogs, I can pretty easily and quickly “read a dog”. I could tell right from the start, that Bella is something special. She is an unusually sweet, happy, and very intelligent puppy.
Our initial focus for Bella’s puppy training is to quickly solve all housebreaking issues, ease typical puppy biting, and start teaching her obedience commands. Bella’s owner made one of the smartest decisions all dog owners can make, they started proper dog training as early as possible. Early puppy training is one of the biggest factors in having a well-behaved adult dog.
